I’ve been breaking from social media again ( I guess this is considered social media?),and forgot to post last week. Last week we had to do our exercise from Allen Ginsberg’s ‘A Strange New Cottage in Berkeley” and have our persona narrator create an epiphany. Sounds easy right? Not for me so much. I tried my best and got some good feedback from my teacher.
Preamble: 1st person PN who is active in her bedroom. Attempting to create an epiphany build up between the PN and her bed, while also trying to keep the tone light and the mood to create itself.
Tearing off the queen size mattress sheet I notice the dent on the right side of the bed has gotten deeper somehow. It used to be swollen and soft like garden bumble bees landing on a tulip. Now it’s cold and barren and bare’s no fruit. I like to fluff the pillows once a week and pull open the off white curtains. The sun rays shown through like a golden god before the purity faded. I carefully gaze under the bed frame at the impeding dust around each broken leg and let out a tired sigh.
